I’ve been laid off / fired, and honestly, I’m in a bit of a pickle trying to figure out which term is more fitting—it’s like choosing between a rock and a hard place. Apparently, it was just a “business decision,” which sounds ever so official, but it felt more like someone decided to play corporate musical chairs, and I was left without a seat. They mentioned it was due to a business restructure, but that just sounds fancy, like they were rearranging the furniture in a tornado.
To be fair, I was sharing with my old manager that I was exploring new job opportunities because I was eager to find a role that matched my skills and aspirations better. Looking back, it feels like a positive step towards finding a more fulfilling position.
So now it’s time to reflect on this. When I was informed that my contract was coming to an end, I felt a mix of emotions, but I ultimately saw it as an opportunity. On one hand, I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders, and on the other, I’m excited about the chance to grow and learn from this experience.
I have been job hunting, and while I haven’t found the perfect fit yet, I feel a renewed sense of motivation and excitement about discovering a job that aligns with my lifestyle. I’ve returned to the gym, and the consistency is incredibly uplifting; I’m eager to maintain this positive momentum!
I am grateful for the incredible people I’ve had the opportunity to work with. It may sound cliche, but we truly created a work family that I cherish. While this chapter is closing, I look forward to keeping in touch with the wonderful relationships I’ve built through this job, knowing that they will help me come back even stronger.
